(Kiev: December 13, 1941) Pilot Name: Jg2001 Quax, Haubi, Max und Jonny AircraftType: 8 x Me_109F4 Target Duties: 4x109 Cap near Kiev and 4x109 Cap over own groundtargets Targets Destroyed: 14 enemy aircrafts Mission End Status: 2 Captured..rest landing Points: :-)
Mission Debriefing:
Our mission idea for this mission was to split aour fighters into 2 groups. One group flying cap between start AF and Kiev south. The other group still fly caps over own groundtargets. 10 Min after start the first group has contact in AE3. 3 Incoming DB3´s in 4000m hdy to our start AF. 2 Were shout down by Max and Jonny, the other by Jg26 Mama?. In the meantime Haubi and i arrived in the grid where we supposed our ground targets and beguns to circle with eco40:-D. After 20 min we saw 3 con , comming from west, hdg east and we decide to watch them. In AG8 we have reached them, attacked the 3x I153 and destroy them. After that we returned to the groundtargets, just right, than 3x IL2 beguns to start there bombrun (55min/ AF9). 3 another candidats for the hell:-D and we continue our cap. 7Min later we spotet another 3xIL2 group and we fight them down, long time bevor the could reach there target. In the Meantime Jonny and Max arived and we meets us in 4000m near the border to make an rtb. just in the moment we turns west, Jonny spotet 3 con comming from the east (H10). That was our desert for this evening...3 old I16. A few minutes later all were downed, but we have lost Haubi and Jonny....to fast and to near on an exploding I16. Rest make RTB and drink a fresh bier.
Thx, nice flying and gn8:-) Salute Quax

Date: 13.12.41 Time: 700hrs Weather: Poor Cloud Height: 647m Pilot Name: I/KG26_MadJek Aircraft Type:JU-87B2 [Loadout 1x1000kg bomb 100% fuel] Target Duties: Search and Destroy along the MSR (Tanks) Targets Destroyed: 1 tank 17 Car 4 AAA Mission End Status: Emergency Landing west of Kocherovo Points: 493
Mission Debriefing:
I woke up early today, as I knew we were going towards Kiev to look for enemy tanks. I walked out to check over my crate and see if she was loaded up and ready to go. My crew chief had gotten up before me and already had her in tip-top condition. He reported having filled the tank with 100% fuel and was in the process of loading a 1000kg bomb. As he was doing this, I noticed that the other Stukas were beening armed and fueled. The ground crews were hanging 250Kg bombs under each Crate. All except for one, HK_Grayray had his crew chief hang some extra 50Kg bombs under each wing. The morning wore on, and before I knew it Grayray and I were airborne and on our way to Kiev. In the flight I was leading, it was me in crate S2-AH, my rookie wingman in S2-BH, Grayray in S2-CH, and his wingman in S2-DH. The four of us headed out of Vinnica on an approximate heading of 060’. From the height we were at, the ground below looked clear, but there was a great many more clouds today. Our eyes would have to be extra sharp today.
As we headed to our target, I let Grayray know I would try to climb to 3000m and would set my throttle to 90% and my propeller pitch to 90% as well. As I got all of my settings configured and began to look at my instrument panel in order to trim out my Stuka, I lost visibility on Grayray and his wingman. For awhile we tried to call out over the radio in the hopes of contacting him, but this had little effect. As I was trying to raise Grayray over the radio, I slowed my engine to 80% throttle and noticed the town of Levkov out my port window. Out of my starboard window I noticed the fine pilots of JG26. I saw Yip, Mama, and Without roar ahead.
It was near the town of Hodorkov [sector AH-6] that I was able to raise Grayray on the radio. It was a relief to know that he and his wingman were safe. I slowed my throttle to 70% to let him catch up. I was currently on a heading of 55’ and at an approximate altitude of 3100m. Grayray caught up quickly and the four of us moved closer to Kiev. It was almost at this exact time that I saw two high contacts moving directly towards my flight. Shortly after this I saw a third contact moving towards me as well. I was familiar with the paint scheme and silhouette of the aircraft to know that it was Yip chasing two Ivans! Those poor Soviets were about to meet their match.
Meanwhile, Grayray and I moved on. We began to head directly east towards the town of Vasilkov. My suggestion was to catch the MSR north of Vasilkov, then follow it north into Kiev. Grayray agreed adding that we could also cover the rail line just north of the river going into Vasilkov. It was an excellent idea. As we moved east, and then turned north, we were unable to locate any enemy. However, as we came into the southern suburbs of Kiev, Grayray and I saw a Soviet convoy moving south. I elected to stay high and draw flak in a counter clockwise pattern, as Grayray went in with his 4x50kg bombs to take out the convoy. As I was in my pattern drawing flak, I began receiving heavy caliber flak from the airfield closest to the town of Zhuliany. [Sector AN-10] My rear gunner told me he though he saw vehicles stopped at the end of the runway. As all of this was going on, Grayray called out good hits on the convoy smashing all but one truck. He came back around and finished that truck off with his machine guns. I continued to stay high with my 1000kg bomb looking for any enemy tanks. I informed Grayray that I would continue to head north into Kiev. As I did this, I quickly found another Soviet convoy stopped on the road. It to was in the vicinity of the airfield. Grayray had his 250kg bomb and I again told him I would stay high and draw flak. Again, I circled in a counter clockwise pattern as the mobile flak gun in the convoy began firing at me. It wasn’t long after this that Grayray again called out hits on the convoy. He reported taking out the mobile Flak gun. He and his wingman went back around to strafe all the remaining trucks.
I radioed to Grayray that I was going to head back over the the airbase that I saw the stopped trucks at. My intention was to dive bomb them. Grayray encouraged me to move farther west in our search pattern for any enemy tanks. I agreed and headed out over a concrete airfield that appeared to be inactive before passing over another airfield to the southwest. The grass airfield to the southwest appeared to be active, as I began to see large caliber flak burst in air. I continued westward into sector AL-10. Having not made contact with the enemy, I radioed to Grayray that I was going back to the airfield near Zhuliany to hit the targets we saw there.
I was close to 3000m and checked to make sure I had my bombsight set to zero. I inched closer to the airfield, but it became obscured in the clouds. Just as I came to the southern end of the runway, a hole in the clouds appeared. I rolled over to port, chopped my throttle, and extended my dive breaks. As I looked for the target I saw several small caliber AAA guns open up on me. I felt the hits from the guns rock and shake my plane. I couldn’t give it a second thought. I lined up my Revi just above the target I was aiming for, as I had been landing my bombs short lately, and released when I was sure of a hit. I immediately retracted my airbrakes and pushed the throttle forward. As I leveled out I heard the massive explosion from the 1000kg bomb going off and heard my rear gunner calling out over the radio that we got a large number of trucks and AAA. Unfortunately, the hits I had taken from the AAA guns had punched a hole in my fuel tank. I was leaking fuel badly. Grayray called out over the radio to head for friendly lines. Luckly we were near the bulge in the lines that our forces were pushing Ivan easterly. I headed for them as quickly as possible. As I throttled back to conserve fuel, Grayray reminded me to gradually climb. Altitude may make the difference in me making it across enemy lines. I headed west and soon saw JG26 Mama pull up along my port wing. He too informed me that I was leaking fuel. He stayed with me until I was able to put my crate down. Just as I crossed over into friendly lines, my fuel ran out and my engine quit. Several options opened up for me, bail out, ditch in a nearby river, or land on a nearby road. I don’t know why, but I chose to land on a nearby road. It was probably the worst decision to make. Bailing out would have been the best idea, as it would have almost assuredly guaranteed safe return to Vinnica. Ditching in a river would have been a softer landing than a road landing, and there was a river right below me. But I chose to land on the road just to the west of Kocherovo. It was a long and straight road. I wanted to do all I could to keep my crate in one piece. I hated give up on my beloved “Erika Leigh.” She had been my good luck charm on the last mission. So I landed on the road and my gunner and I walked into town. We were able to locate a phone and contacted our base to send help. I am hoping that by this time tomorrow we will be back in Vinnica ready for the next mission.

(Kiev: December 13, 1941)
Pilot Name: I/KG26_Alpha AircraftType: He111 H-6 50% fuel 2 x SC2000kg Target Duties: Yagotin Industrial area Targets Destroyed:16 Mission End Status: Landed at Airfield Points: 960
Mission Debriefing:
Todays mission was deep into the enemy lines at Yagotin, the weather was reported to be bad for level bombing with cloud at approx 700m and an early morning flight at 07:00 meant poor visibility maybe. As number 4 in the flight I was having problems keeping up with Oranje Evil and Cappy, I think these Jumos have seen better days and need replacing soon they were underpowered by 20 15- 20 kph but I was able to maintain a decent altitude and cruise speed.
The egress to target was quite an interesting one, our flight came across an enemy recon plane after 15 mins into the flight and then 3 enemy bandits heading south to AN-1 sector, this made the crew jumpy as we were so far out of formation and vunerable, but it worked as far as I was backup bomber the the flight if they missed the target I was to drop on any thing left over. There was activity on comms as we got near to Yagotin airspace, the flight got spread out to maximized the attack and my bombardier confirmed target in the bombsite ahead, the bombs away messages came fast from Cappy Evil & Oranje all had good hits but there was an area of the target unhit so the bombadier quickly adjusted and dropped the sc 2000's, I broke hard right and tried to quickly get into formation for the RTB but soon realized my engines were low on power for some reason and was soon dropping behind again, although after some tinkering around I was faster on the way home with the lighter payload.
RTBing was uneventful (good thing) the only problem we encountered was the thick cloud all over our front lines, as the flight dissapeared infront of me on finals I dropped down for mine and was soon parked and in the bar.

Pilot Name: JG26_Yip AircraftType: Bf109F-2 Target Duties: Escort Targets Destroyed: 3 LaGG Mission End Status: RTB Points: 300
Mission Debriefing: I took off with Mama on my wing and Without as element leader. We had escort duties over Kiev. Badger and Biggles were in a Jabo flight and we had Stuka's heading that way also. On the way Mama called out bombers and attacked. I never had visual so I continued on course. Encountered 3 LaGG's headed West. Must have been rookies because I turned on them and shot #3 down before he knew I was there. The other two continued on course. Without attacked as we closed again. One split high -- I took that one and got him with a burst. I then found myself on the 6 of the plane Without had attacked. It only took a few rounds to finish him. Shared kill with Without. Skies remained empty for the remainder of the flight. Flew south to an airbase looking for targets of opportunity -- nothing. Some active flak in a base in L5 but no aircraft. Flew home without incident.

Pilot Name: JG26_Without AircraftType: BF109 F4 100%Fuel Target Duties: Cap N10 Targets Destroyed:0 Mission End Status: Landed at Airfield Points: 0
Mission Details: Our duties for today was escorting Jabos in south Kiev.E7´s and Ju87´s.Flew EL with Yip as WL with Mama.On a heading of 60 we headed out climbing to 4000m.Our base was very busy today with multiple planes taking off and egressing out.Watching as many as possible my plan was to make sure all head east. This worked fine until Mama saw a flight of 3 flying west.Coming around we see 3 DB3´s.I also see a flight of 4 109´s from the JG2001 split left and right of the bombers flying alongside them. Not sure if they were waiting or wot their plan was(not being in radio contact.)and myself being in a good position I lined up.Mama went in and got great hits sparking flames and relieving the plane of something large. It fell out of formation.Lining up on #2 I see The 2001 guys pulling in and firing.I´d just fired but broke and pulled up avoiding anything I wouldn´t want to explain.Staying high for a good view I watched as they pick em both off with lovely swooping sidewards attacks leaving the gunners feeling useless.Seen it before but seeing it live gave me a reason to get to learn these good tactics.Very impressive.Sorry if I got in the way guys. Heading back to 60 degrees we called Yip who stayed with the Jabos and said he was 40km ahead.Slowly caught up with the Stukas just as Yip cries 3xLagg.As we continued 2 came straight for us.Turned and got into position behind them and closed in.Got a couple of hit #2 as he pulled up and then dived down.Yip said #1 was down.Coming back down on #2 Yip in a better position finishes him nicely.Forming back up we patrolled the N10 area and watched the Stukas do their job.Took a look at the AF just 40km south of Kiev but naught to see.Back in Kiev I Mama strafing the fuel depots.Nice one I thought.Formed up and headed back with Madjek(leaking fuel) and Gray.Nice(as Alpha said)uneventfull return home with Madjek landing on a road due to fuel problems.Took off then back south to home base and landed with 50l of fuel left.Nice going everyone.

(Kiev: December 13, 1941) Pilot Name: NJG26_Capricorn AircraftType: HE-111 H-6 , 2x 2000kg bombs Target Duties: AAA Factories in Yagotin Targets Destroyed:2 AAA Mission End Status: Landed RTB (All 4 Planes in flight) Points:120
Mission Debriefing: It was a cloudy day as we climbed into the sky. leader of a 4x HE-111 H-6 flight Including NJG26_Capricorn, I/KG26_ALpha , I/KG26_Orange, I/KG26_Evil. Our target today was a AAA factory attack in the city of Yagotin We climbed out to 4500M on a heading of about 060', I adjusted our course to 075' for a bit to align us up for a side attack allowing the bombers to easily aquire targets. We spotted several enemy flights but they passed by us but luckily did not spot our flight.
During flight refering to recon maps the decision was made I would drop on the Left factory area , Pilot Orange in the middle of the area, and pilot Evil to bomb the right area. Alpha was having some engine troubles most likely from some bad fuel we may have received at the base, so he was trailing behind. So we instructed him to hold back until we had a visual on the damage so we could direct his bomb drop on areas that survived the initial attack. We began our attack after spotting damage from our belly gunners and as reported we hit a large portion of the factories. We then directed Alpha to a small group of large factories in the west part of the city that had been missed. He dropped his bombs and it was a direct hit taking out that whole area.
We could not determine the individual damage done from such high altitude but a recon plane later that day taking arieal photos revealed we had did at least 90% destruction to the factory area. The return home was uneventful until I navigated our flight directly over an enemy airfield, after taking some minor 88mm flak we reformed on a headed about 250' and returned to base safely.

Pilot Name: JG26_Mama AircraftType: BF109 F4 Target Duties: Cap N10 / Escort Stukas Targets Destroyed:1 DB3 Mission End Status: Landed at Airfield Points: 200
Mission Details: After takeoff with Yip as WL and Without as Element Leader we headed northeast against Kiev. After some time i spotted 3 dots heading west and going in for a view. I identified them as DB3 bombers and started a run, when Without told me over comms JG2001 Units were on their way too. I finished this single path with a couple of good hits, left bomber behind me and we going on main target route back. Yip was reporting incoming Laggs when i spotted them Yip was turning behind one and seconds later i saw a wing falling down off it. Without was behind the second Lagg , when Yip turned in the climbing fighter and finished it.
Over the target area i saw only some flak coming up. Strafed fuel tanks on the main airfield north of Kiev . Than i escorted MadJek and GrayRay back on their way home. After MJ landed emergency on a road ( fuel problems ) i asked ground control for a Kuebelwagen . When GrayRay was on his field, i flew back to my homebase were Yip and Without landed some minutes before me. When i was lined up, i saw our Heinkels coming in. Great show.

Mission Debriefing:
Was in a HE-111 With Cap being the Flight leader today Alpha and Orange completed our group.Todays flight was a long one we were going to bomb the factories in the Yagotin industrial area.Take off was routine all got up without incident. We headed out in a easterly heading roughly 60 degrees and was climbing out to 4000m at 4-500m per min.Alpha seemed to be having engine problems and was trailing behind,he closed up after a bit but for most of the flight his engines were acting up.As we agressed to target about 10 min in to the flight we seen a recon off our starboard side traveling west.A few min later a group of 3 i thnk which looked like enemy fighters also past us on the same side .Looks like they were in a hurry as they paid no attention to us.We hit our designated altitude and leveled out and started to settup for the run.As the targets came into view i had to make some adjustments to get the target into the crosshairs but looked ok , but the drop was long and no targets were destroyed. We were glad Alpha was on he made a direct hit on his target,it will be some time before they get that place up and running. We all grouped back together for the flight home.Flight home went with out a hitch with all of us landing safe at home base.Nice job for Cappy we were dead on target and great job all. thnx!!!!
