Redcoat Stuka CL with sc1800
320pts 8 tanks.
Took Stuka CL with Madjek leading our section of four. Taking off from K20(?) we rallied at O21@1500m, with Diesel and Evils section at 2-2500m above us. After loitering there for 5 or so minutes, we were given the all clear and ordered to proceed by Alpha, ( flying the captured IL2 section with Loki ). Alpha had started his attack on the columns, with the intention of taking down any flak before the stukas arrived. Just before we got to target, we heard Evil and Deisel come under attack, somewhere east of the target area. Madjek swung us slighly ESE to put our attack in from the East to West, hoping to do more damage on the back decks of the tanks. We started our attacks ( using the sc1800) dropping squarely in the middle of the tanks. We continued heading west to clear the area, rally up and get ready to go back and strafe whatever trucks were left after Alpha and Loki had bombed them. Madjek kept us to the west and safe for 5 minutes, before retuning to the target area. At this time, I observed russian attack aircraft hit friendly retreating forces. On arrival back at the target, we made one straffing run before Alpha reported that all the trucks were destroyed, so we RTB'd, landing safley. Evil and Deisel did not return.
It seemed as though the IL2/PE2 escort bumped Diesel and Evil, despite waiting for the target to be cleared of enemy. I think the call that the area was safe was given after just a few russian fighters had been seen ad dealt with, and that we should have waited longer, before going in to target. There was also some confusion about where our rally point was, and the order in which we were supposed to attack. But hindsights a great tool. Excellent flight leading by Madjek, never steering us wrong, and using good judgement to get us in and out safely. Top bombing.

Pilot Name: I/KG26_Alpha AircraftType: IL2 (Captured) Target Duties: Search and destroy R-21 Targets Destroyed: Tanks x 13 Trucks x 32 Mission End Status: Landed at base Points: 1570
Mission Debriefing:
Took off from Fraulenburgh in a captured IL2 again, we rallied up in O-20 and had a good formation waiting for fighters to call target area R-21 clear, II/KG200 Loki joined my flight today and flew an excellent wing with great success attacking the target in R-21.
After we got the all clear we egressed to target and made our heading to R-21, we saw many enemy fighters around us and totally confused we just kept going on, fighters were everywhere, we picked our way through and started the attack run, got bombs on the column and then into the tanks with our cannons.
loki scored good hits and the Stukas had killed many tanks, after too many strafing runs I decided its time to head home Loki made one last run and we got half way home when enemy fighters appered on our 12 & 6 thankfully Brubaker and Without were on hand to deal with the Ivans and we ran full throttle for home.

Pilot Name: I/KG26_MadJek Aircraft Type:JU-87D3 [Loadout 1xSC1800kg bomb 50% fuel] Target Duties:Destroy tanks at R-21 Bridge Targets Destroyed:25Tanks Mission End Status: Landed at Frauenberg Points: 1000
Took off as Leader of 1A-AL flight. Had 2 pilots new to the flight and Redcoat as #3. Our flight took off from Schrunden Aerodrome with a heavy bombload. (SC1800kg) I used the entire runway to get my crate off and make a steady climb. Upon beginning my climb, I made a slow right hand turn to a heading of approximately 090. My tail-gunner seemed awful worried I was going to stahl my crate... Our flight continued heading east before heading southeast to rendezvous with the rest of the Stukas in 0scar-21. As we made our way to the rendezvous point we were at approximately at 1500-2000m. My flight formed up with Diesel's flight and circled at the rally point until we were given the all clear to hit the target. After being given the all clear, my flight turned towards the target in R-21 but stayed south of the river and headed east. I noticed Diesel and Evil's flight of Stukas go further east then my flight. After seeing them continue eastward, I heard a call over the radio that they were now engaged with enemy fighters. I heard over the radio that they were both taking hits from fighters and then heard that Evil had gone in. Diesel said that he had taken damage and was leaking fuel. He said he was running for base before he glumly called out to all kampffliger that he had run out of fuel. He said he was proceeding to ditch. That was the last that we heard from Diesel. I proceeded to keep my flight south of the river. As I made my way towards the bridge in R-21, Redcoat and Alpha both spotted enemy planes attacking our ground forces. Alpha called out that one of our AAA gunners just took down a Soviet plane. We contined on with the MSR on our 9 o'clock. My flight came to the bridge and spotted a large concentration of tanks bunched up on the road. Our plan was to pass by them before swinging around and hitting the Soviet tanks from east to west. I didn't identify any enemy aircraft in the target area and wanted to hit the tanks while it was clear. I called out my intention to hit the tanks, and got the go ahead. I chopped my throttle and extended my dive brakes. As my crate nosed over into its dive, I was able to clearly see the target in my gunsight. I only noticed small amounts of tracer fire and dropped my bomb in on the tanks. After seeing a large orange flash reflect of my canopy, I heard my tail-gunner calling out hits and swearing at the Ivans below. Having completed my run, I pulled up my dive breaks and egressed out on the deck westward. As I was doing this, my tail-gunner saw Redcoat go into his dive, drop his bomb, and hit the target with the same type of thunderous explosion I was now familiar with. I then called over the radio for the rest of my flight to hit any of the remaining tanks. They radioed back confirmation and went after their targets. I keyed my radio Mic and called out to Redcoat to rally at Quebec-20. Our entire flight formed up over the lake in that sector as I contacted Alpha to see if there were enemy fighters over the target. Alpha said it was clear, so I took my flight back to the target. We were at about 1000m. I went to the target and passed by the now smoking transport columns on the MSR before swinging around on them and beginning a strafing run northeast to southwest. I opened up both of my guns and saw dirt and Soviet body parts fly into the air, but did not notice any explosions. I then swung around counterclockwise as Alpha and Loki were strafing tanks. As I was beginning my turn, Alpha confirmed that one of the other Stukas destroyed the last of the column vehicles. Myself, Redcoat and the rest of our flight began our return to base. We headed for Frauenberg at about 500m. Upon arrival at the friendly town of Frauenberg, Redcoat and I put our crates down easily and looked to our gunners to congratulate them on another safe return home. Just as I began my slow climb out of the Stuka, I saw 3 IL-2's approaching the airfield. I quickly drew my Lugar, yelled for my tail-gunner to be ready, and got behind the control tower. As I was gripping and holding my weapon up against my chest, I saw Redcoat flash by and put his back to a nearby building ready to open fire with his weapon. In a quick second, I saw the wings on the lead IL-2 wag back and forth and noticed it was Alpha and Loki beginning their landing pattern. I quickly remembered we had captured a few of the Soviet planes. Old habits are hard to break...

Mission Debriefing:
Took off from Fraulenburgh @1100 local in IL2 (captured). Flew in Alpha's flight as #3. Proceeded to O-20 and orbited untill al rallied and proceeded to target area. Arrived at target area and followed Alpha in on column attack. hit the back half of truck/aa column with 6x100 lb bombs. from here prceeded west to bridge head and straffed tanks with cannons for about 5 mins. flew back to column to hit aa that was still alive then proceeded back to straff tanks. Numerous enemy aircraft flying overhead and none tried to engage. maybe the a/c confused them...Alpha called for RTB i did one last run on the way to form up, hit a coule more tanks and formed up. approc 1137 local at NML we encountered 3 or 4 enemy fighters at our 6 a slight distance away. they were engaged by fighter. we high-tailed it towards home.
